Mahwah Municipal Budget Has 3.1% Tax Increase

The average tax bill this year is slated to be $2,014, the preliminary budget shows.

MAHWAH, NJ — The average township homeowner's taxes could increase nearly $62 if the Town Council approves a $107 million tax levy as part of the 2019 municipal budget.

The $61.92 increase is a 3.17 percent raise over last year's average bill of $1,952. The average this year is slated to be $2,014, the preliminary budget shows.

Two council members, Jonathan Wong and Janet Ariemma, April 25 voted against introducing the budget. The five other council members voted to introduce the budget.

The Town Council will take a final vote on the budget at a meeting 7 p.m. May 9.
