Mahwah Named Top Town For NJ Families: Report

MAHWAH, NJ — Mahwah was named among the best towns for families in New Jersey, according to a new ranking published by New Jersey Family magazine.

Mahwah was ranked No. 38. Mahwah has a school system that consistently receives high marks from the state. It also has several state and county parks, including the Ramapo Valley County Reservation.

The borough used to be home to "Trees" poet Joyce Kilmer, who actually wrote the poem in Mahwah, and renowned guitarist Les Paul.

The magazine looked at towns with more than 1,500 residents, and took into account several key factors, including average home sale price, crime rates, school performance, commute time, and diversity. They then took that data to find the different rankings, including the best overall, best for commuters, and best large, mid-sized, and small towns.

Glen Rock was named the second best town for families in New Jersey and was ranked highest in Bergen County.
