NJ Motorcycle Crash With Police Vehicle Under State Probe: AG

The state Attorney General's Office is investigating the crash that killed a motorcyclist Monday, officials said.

FORT LEE, NJ - A deadly crash that involved a motorcyclist and a Port Authority police vehicle on Monday is now under state investigation, officials said.

The state Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability is investigating the incident, which resulted in the death of the driver of the motorcycle after the driver ran a red light and crashed into the police vehicle, Patch previously reported. At around 5:45 a.m., a Port Authority police officer was responding to a call traveling east on Bruce Reynolds Boulevard when, as the officer entered the intersection at Lemoine Avenue, an electric motorcycle traveling north on Lemoine Avenue struck the police vehicle, the state Attorney General's office said.

The motorcycle operator was transported to Englewood Hospital and was pronounced dead at 6:27 a.m., the Attorney General’s office said.

The state Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability opens an investigation anytime a fatal police-involved shooting is reported.
