Ramapo College In Mahwah Moves Up In New U.S. News Ranking

MAHWAH, N.J. — Now that high school students have the internet at their fingertips, they can undertake an intense search for the college that suits them, rather than picking famous names.

One of their resources, U.S News & World Report, just released its 2024 Best Colleges Guidebook, including a college based in Mahwah that did well in two categories.

Ramapo College of New Jersey moved up to 27 in the Top Regional Universities-North, out of 178 results this year. The school appears amid a mix of colleges in New England and New York State.

The publication notes, "Ramapo College of New Jersey is a liberal arts school located on the northern edge of the state, in the town of Mahwah. Undergraduates at Ramapo can choose from about 40 programs in five schools, and graduate students can earn master's degrees in nursing, business, liberal studies, sustainability studies and education."

The school also ranked high for public universities in the North, coming in at number 11, and ranked 57 for "best value schools."

Tuition and fees in state are are $15,364, and out of state they're $25,374, the publication noted.

A Ramapo spokesperson proudly the noted the rankings last week, saying the university had climbed 12 places as a Best Value School. She said the rankings were a "testimony to the quality of the academic programming delivered to students at a low net cost of attendance."

Ramapo, founded in 1969, is located in the Ramapo Mountains of Mahwah. (Find out more here.)

Which NJ Schools Got The Top Spots?

One can use the U.S. News list to find out which New Jersey colleges had the highest rankings nationally.

Overall, Princeton, Rutgers-New Brunswick, and the Stevens Institute of Technology (which is in Hoboken) had the three highest national rankings, out of New Jersey Colleges.

Who else made the grade? Rounding out the top 10 were the Rutgers-Newark, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers-Camden, Seton Hall, Stockton, Montclair State, and Rowan.

Ramapo came in at 15.
