Fraud, Shoplifting: Manalapan Police Blotter

Six fraud incidents were reported to Manalapan Police from Aug. 13 through Aug. 20.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Police reported multiple incidents of fraud and shoplifting from Aug. 13 through Aug. 20.

Aug. 13
Employees of the Home Goods located at 55 Route 9 in Manalapan reported a shoplifting incident that occurred on Aug. 7, where unknown individuals shoplifted $2,649.93 worth of merchandise from the store.

Employees of the Home Sense located at 55 Route 9 in Manalapan reported a shoplifting incident that occurred on Aug. 9, where an unknown person shoplifted $499.99 worth of merchandise from the store.

Aug. 14
A 74-year-old Manalapan resident reported being defrauded on the internet for $3,400.00.

A 50-year-old Manalapan resident reported being harassed by a neighbor.

Aug. 15
A 48-year-old Manalapan resident reported being assaulted while on Heron Court in Manalapan. The incident resulted in minor injuries and is pending complaints being signed.

Aug. 16
Employees of Knob Hill Country Lanes, located at 363 Route 33, reported that an unknown individual fraudulently altered checks for $4,810.00 and deposited them into an unknown bank account.

Aug. 18
An 83-year-old Freehold Township resident reported an unknown individual illegally entering a vehicle while it was parked in the Wegman's parking lot at 55 Route 9 in Manalapan. The resident said the individual took items costing $459.00.

Aug. 19
A 68-year-old Manalapan resident reported a $1,437.50 check being stolen from the mail.

A 44-year-old Howell resident reported being defrauded of $400.00 by someone obtaining their Visa gift card information.

Manalapan Patrolman Jake Mann responded to the Old Bridge Township Police Department and took Christopher Janicki, 35, of Matawan, into custody regarding a warrant issued for his arrest for $2,000.00. Janicki was processed and transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in place of bail.

A 44-year-old Manalapan resident reported someone making multiple unauthorized transactions for $323.42 using their credit card information.

Aug. 20
A 38-year-old Manalapan resident reported seeing two people in dark clothing and ski masks at a Country Oaks Drive residence before they fled the area.

Employees of KNE Fire Protection Services located at 14 Plaza 9 in Manalapan reported receiving fraudulent checks for $5,400.50.

A 75-year-old Manalapan resident reported being defrauded for $8,000.00 over the phone by someone pretending to be a bank employee.

A 46-year-old Manalapan resident reported someone stealing a license plate from a vehicle.
