Manalapan Business Defrauded Of $60,000; Others Had Thefts: Police

Several businesses in Manalapan reported being victims of fraud or theft recently, police say.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Businesses in the township recently reported incidences of fraud and theft to police.

A Colts Neck resident told Manalapan police that on Friday, Jan. 6, a Route 9 business was defrauded of $65,000. The report is being investigated, and no other details about the business were released.

  • Employees of The Four Seasons sales office, 176 Route 33 in Manalapan, reported someone entered the office during the overnight hours and removed electronic equipment, valued at approximately $5,600.
  • A Newark, Del., resident told police someone entered a business trailer on Millhurst Road in Manalapan and removed items valued at approximately $7,475.

There were instances of personal fraud, too, police said:

  • On March 28, a Manalapan resident, 71, told police someone used their credit card to make purchases in the amount of $2,437.56.
  • On March 27, a Manalapan resident, 69, told police someone made $300 in fraudulent transactions with the victim’s debit card.
  • On March 25, a Manalapan resident, 40, told police that someone opened two bank accounts using their personal information. There was no monetary loss reported.
  • Another resident, 38, reported to police that someone used their personal information in an attempt to lease an apartment.

All incidents are under investigation, police said.
