The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies later today with a low risk of rip currents at Monmouth County beaches. Highs will be in the lower 80s, with southwest winds around 10 miles per hour, becoming west in the afternoon. There's a low risk of rip currents today, but rips are always possible, especially near jetties and other structures. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you in the water. Waves will be from two to three feet high, with southeast swells of two feet. The ocean water temperature is 74 degrees. The ultraviolet index is an 8, which the NWS considers high. There is no lightning threat for today. High tide at Belmar rolled in at 6:24 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 12:17 p.m., followed by another high tide at 6:41 p.m. Photo: Patricia A. Miller
