MANCHESTER, NJ - First responder training will close Union Avenue in Lakehurst this Sunday, officials said.
The main road will be closed form Railroad to Center Street from 7 to 11 a.m., the Lakehurst Fire Department said in a statement. Residents are instructed to clear all vehicles off the road and out of the municipal parking lot on Union Avenue to ensure proper training space and no damages to personal property.
Detours will be in place on Sunday until training is complete, officials said.

“The objective behind this training exercise is so that we can work together and practice with our mutual aid partners,” the Lakehurst Fire Department said.
“We have an old downtown area with some older buildings so in the event of a fire downtown we need to have a plan in place that allows for newer equipment and firefighting tactics. The chief and fellow officers of our departments have been working on updating our plan so this drill will allow us to see if our planning needs to be adjusted.”
