Active Colts Neck Environmentalist Gisela Anderl Dies at 84

After the first year in Eatontown, where their third child was born, Gisela and her husband moved to and stayed in Colts Neck.

Gisela T. (Dworschak) Anderl, 84, of Colts Neck, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 after a long, hard battle against lung cancer. Gisela was born in Berndorf, Austria. After the death of her father, she took over the management of her parent's general store until it was time to start her own family.

When her husband accepted a position in the U.S. in 1957, they immigrated to this country with their two small children. After the first year in Eatontown, where their third child was born, they moved to and stayed in Colts Neck. Gisela was active in scouting and in environmental matters. Her enduring and most satisfying pursuit was horticulture, raising an abundance of plants and flowers in her greenhouse.

Gisela was predeceased by her parents, Emmerich and Theresia (Amort) Dworschak; and by her younger son, Georg, who was killed 1 ½ years ago by an out of control SUV while jogging. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Josef; her son, Ewald C. and wife Mary Anne (Kinney) of Middletown; her daughter, Ursula Ahern and son-in-law Paul of Grayslake, IL; her son Georg's widow, Kathleen (Dawson) of Cedar Rapids, IA; her brother, Dr. Emmerich Dworschak and his wife Erna of Berndorf, Austria, and seven grandchildren.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Nature Conservancy, to the Natural Resources Defense Council, or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
