Forged Checks Lead to Indictment of Jersey City Man

Lewis Wright allegedly stole checks from a Colts Neck resident and attempted to cash them in Jersey City.

A Jersey City man was indicted last week for allegedly stealing and using personal checks belonging to a Colts Neck resident.

Lewis Wright, 24, was indicted after allegedly stealing a checkbook of 30 checks and deposit slips, and attempted to forge a signature to use the checks in his hometown by writing a $1,500 check to himself and signing the victim's name in December.

The report stated Wright allegedly stole the checkbook from the victim's home, but does not indicate if the victim knew Wright.
