2 Tied For Second GOP Nomination On Mendham Twp. Committee

Mail-in ballots will have to decide who moves on to November General Election.

MENDHAM TWP., N.J. – Three Republicans were on the ballot, but only two could win enough votes to land on the November General Election ballot.

But as of 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night, with all districts reporting, only one candidate was a clear winner, while two others tied for votes.

Mendham Township Committeeman Samuel Tolley and challengers Richard Diegnan and Warren Gisser vied for two seats on the governing body, along with Democrat Peter Dumovic.

Diegnan received the most votes, with 640, while Tolley and Gisser both tied with 495 votes. Mail-in ballots have not yet been counted.

Democrat Peter Dumovic received 266 votes.

The counting of mail-in ballots could take up to a week to make final vote tallies official, the Morris County Clerk's Office said Tuesday night.
