9 Hospitalized After Multi-Vehicle Crash In Chester

Eight people were taken to area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries, three people refused medical attention and one was airlifted.

CHESTER, NJ — Multiple people were injured on Monday afternoon after a multi-vehicle crash in the area of U.S. Highway 206 and Maple Avenue, Chester police said.

As a result of the crash, eight people were taken to area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries, three patients refused medical attention and one patient was airlifted, via MedEvac, to a local trauma hospital for life threatening injuries.

The crash, which occurred at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19 involved three separate vehicles travelling along U.S. Highway 206, police said.

According to preliminary investigations, Julio Barragan,59, of Netcong was driving northbound on US Highway 206 near the Chester Shop Rite in a 2008 Lexus sedan when he entered the shared left turn lane, crossed over into the southbound lane of travel, and collided with Heather Koby,48, of Chester.

According to police, Koby's car had two juvenile passengers and a dog inside

Barragan's vehicle then hit a 2011 Ford Econoline Van driven by Edwin Cuna, 40, of Jersey City, and both vehicles came to rest near the Chester Dunkin' Donuts.

The names of all the passengers have not been released publically.
