Asdal Ousts Cogger In Chester Twp. Mayoral Primary Election
Challenger will be Republican nominee on November ballot.

CHESTER TWP., N.J. – Chester Township voters made their way to the polls Tuesday, June 7 for the Primary Election, and made their voices heard by choosing a Republican candidate for mayor in the November General Election.
Mayor Bill Cogger lost his re-election bid to challenger Marcia Asdal, who will be the Republican candidate on the November General Election ballot.
Cogger is in the final year of his third consecutive term.

Asdal has never held public political office, but has been on the West Morris Regional Board of Education since 2011.
"I am grateful for the trust placed in me by the Republican voters of Chester Township and honored to serve as their nominee for mayor on November 8th. Together, we will exceed expectations in delivering exceptional municipal services!" Asdal said Tuesday night. "I look forward to leading our town in preserving Chester Township's many assets while preparing for the future. Under my leadership, our efforts and decisions on issues before me will be guided by my mission to have future home buyers Choose Chester!"

Asdal received 827 votes while Cogger received 630 votes. Results do not include mail-in ballots.
