Council Selects New Member In Mendham: Mayor
Neil Sullivan was chosen to fill the unexpired term of former Council Member Mary Sue Martin.
MENDHAM, NJ — A new member will be officially sworn onto the Mendham Borough Council on Feb. 28, according to the borough’s mayor.
Christine Serrano Glassner told Patch in an email statement on Thursday that the council voted in Neil Sullivan to fill the unexpired term of former Council Member Mary Sue Martin.
The council voted unanimously for Sullivan at Wednesday night’s meeting, Serrano Glassner said.

Glassner said the council interviewed three candidates recommended by the Republican County Committee, which included Sullivan, Marilyn Althoff and James Barker.
"Although all three residents were great candidates ultimately the council voted unanimously for Neil Sullivan based on the amount of years he has served the borough government," said Serrano Glassner.

Sullivan has been serving as the chair of the Economic Development Committee for two years, she said. He has also been an alternate with the Joint Land Use Board.
"He and his wife have made Mendham their home for more than 10 years and have three children here in the Mendham school system," Serrano Glassner added. "Neil will make a great addition to the governing body."
Martin, who began serving in her first term in January 2020, resigned on Jan. 17 for personal reasons, Serrano Glassner previously told Patch.
