Gisser Takes Lead For Mendham Twp. GOP Nomination In New - But Unofficial - Vote Tally

Two votes now separate challenger and incumbent Sam Tolley.

MENDHAM TWP., N.J. - Less than 24 hours after the final ballot was punched, a new leader has emerged in the two-way tie for a second Republican nomination to the Mendham Township Committee.

After Tuesday's Primary Election, Richard Diegnan bested incumbent committeeman Sam Tolley and challenger Warren Gisser with 640 votes. Gisser and Tolley, however, were deadlocked at 495 votes each. Of the three candidates, the top-two vote getters were set to move forward.

The count is still unofficial, however, as all provisionals, write-ins, and mail-ins are still being tabulated. The Morris County Clerk's Office told Patch Tuesday night it could take up to a week to make the final call.
