Glassner Departs Mendham Office For White House Position
Mendham Borough's first female leader has resigned after accepting a position with the Trump administration.

MENDHAM, NJ — A leadership change is underway in Mendham Borough. Christine Serrano Glassner, the longtime mayor, has resigned after accepting a position with President Donald Trump’s administration.
Serrano Glassner, who has served as mayor for more than six years, announced her resignation in a letter posted on the borough's website this past weekend.
"Although we all love our Mendham Borough to remain exactly as it is with its historic charm, change is inevitable in life. It is with highly mixed emotions that I write to my Mendham Borough community today to let you know that I resigned my position as Mayor," Serrano Glassner wrote.

Her resignation is effective immediately.
Serrano Glassner, a Republican whose husband, Michael Glassner, served as Donald Trump’s deputy campaign manager, did not specify the role she will be taking and could not be reached for comment.

However, according to the New Jersey Globe, she is reportedly set to join the White House's Office of Intergovernmental Affairs.
"My time of service is not over, as I share with you that I was offered and accepted a position to work in the White House," Serrano Glassner said. "I am honored to have this opportunity to serve our nation once again and promise to bring the same dedication and compassion to this new job that I brought each day to our lovely town."
Serrano Glassner was elected to a four-year term as Mayor of the Borough of Mendham in 2018, becoming the first woman to do so. She was re-elected to a second four-year term in 2022 with 61 percent of the vote against Democratic challenger Melissa Rawley-Payne.
Before her tenure as mayor, Serrano Glassner served on the Finance Committee, the Public Safety Committee, and the Mendham Borough Town Council.
"Being Mayor of Mendham Borough, and the first woman Mayor, has given me an opportunity to give back to my community and help usher our small historic town into the future in as graceful a manner as possible," Serrano Glassner added.
The announcement of her new position comes shortly after Serrano Glassner ran in the 2024 Republican U.S. Senate primary for the seat once held by now-convicted Senator Bob Menendez, a Democrat. However, the seat was ultimately won by former U.S. Rep. Andy Kim in the November general election.
Looking ahead, Serrano Glassner's resignation will trigger a special election in the borough later this year. Patch reached out to the former mayor for more details about the process but has not received a response.
"It has been my great pleasure to serve such a wonderful town and with such amazing people. I wish you and our Boro team the very best ahead and know that I am always just a phone call away," she added.
