Council Members Unseated In Mendham Borough GOP Primary, Unofficial Results Show

The two challengers celebrated their victory in the primary; Mendham Boro's mayor also thanked supporters after her U.S. Senate campaign.

MENDHAM BOROUGH, NJ — Two current Mendham Borough council members failed to get enough votes Tuesday to ensure their spots on the ballot this fall, according to unofficial results.

Republican incumbents Steven J. Andrew and Brennan Reilly faced challengers Matthew Bruin and Alexandra Henry Traut for their seats, and both newcomers had a sizable lead going into Wednesday morning.

Bruin and Henry-Traut posted a celebratory message on Wednesday afternoon, thanking supporters and volunteers and saying they are "excited to get to work" on the campaign for November.

The party primaries for Judge of the Morris County Surrogate Court and for three county commissioners' seats were uncontested, lining up races this November.

Voters also made their selections in the Democratic and Republican primaries for President, for U.S. House of Representatives, and for candidates trying to unseat embattled Democrat Bob Menendez in the U.S. Senate.

Mendham Borough mayor Christine Serrano Glassner, endorsed by former president Donald Trump, was among the Republicans running for a spot on the general election ballot for Senate.

Glassner won the primary in Morris County by a wide margin and garnered more than 38.6 percent of the vote, but the race was ultimately called for businessman Curtis Bashaw on Tuesday night.

"While we did not achieve the outcome we had sought, I am grateful to those who joined me on this journey and who are ready for commonsense solutions to save America," she said Tuesday night.

Results were last updated at 9:42 a.m. Wednesday, with only a handful of ballots left to be processed from Election Day. Some mail-in and provisional ballots are still pending.
