Mendham Twp. Bridge To Be Replaced, Shut Road For 1 Month
$716K project to begin about Nov. 16.
Ninety years is a pretty good run.
But now it’s time for the Main Street Bridge in Mendham Township to be completely replaced.
Thanks to Morris County funding in the amount of $716,862, the bridge, which runs over Harmony Brook, will be completely removed and replaced by Konkus Corp. of Chester.

The closure will force detours from East Main Street to Woodland Road, Cold Hill Road, Cherry Lane, and Mendham Road.
The bridge was built in 1925 and is a single-span steel stringer structure with stone masonry substructures, helping about 2,950 vehicles pass by daily.
The current bridge is 22 feet long, 37 feet wide and was last rehabilitated in 1977. The new structure will be precast with a three-sided frame with stone facing. It will include an ornamental railing and a concrete sidewalk on the north side.
