NJ Superior Court Judges Available For Election Day Hearings
All across the Garden State court will be in session for legal challenges.
NEW JERSEY - Superior Court judges will be available across the state to conduct hearings for election challenges or issues on Tuesday in what is anticipated to be one of the most contested elections in recent memory.
Voters and residents who have election-related issues or questions about the election or who are seeking assistance casting their vote can contact their respective county clerk’s office and/or board of elections.
If appropriate, a designated judge will promptly hear matters and notice will be given to election officials. Court hearings primarily will be conducted remotely. Some details:

Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage
Anyone seeking to petition the court on a voting or election issue on Nov. 3 can contact the Atlantic County Superior Court at 609-402-0100, ext. 47594 or at ATLCIVILADMIN.Mailbox@njcourts.gov, and the Cape May County Courts at 609-402-0100, ext. 47910 or CPMLawDiv.mailbox@njcourts.gov.
Primarily, the courts will be conducting remote hearings; however, voters can appear in person at the Atlantic County Civil Courthouse in Atlantic City, the Atlantic County Criminal Complex in Mays Landing, or the Cape May Superior Court in Cape May Courthouse, if you are unable to access the courts by phone or email. If appropriate, the matter will be promptly heard by the designated judge, with notice to the election officials. Election officials, petitioners, and attorneys can appear before the designated judge by video or telephone.

COVID-19 safety protocols have been implemented in all courthouses consistent with CDC guidelines. Temperature checks, social distancing, and masks are required for all court users and employees entering the courthouse.

Burlington Vicinage
Anyone seeking to petition the court on a voting or election issues on Nov. 3 can contact the Burlington County Superior Court at 609-288-9500, ext. 38520. Election officials, petitioners, and attorneys can appear before the designated judge by video or telephone. Petitioners also can appear before the judge in person on Election Day.

Camden Vicinage
Anyone seeking to petition the court on a voting or election issue on Nov. 3 may call the Camden County Superior Court at 856-650-9100, ext. 43021.
The Hall of Justice, though generally closed to the public on Election Day, will be open to any voter who appears in person on an election challenge. All COVID-19 health protocols will be implemented, including screening operations, requirements of face masks and social distancing, and use of Plexiglass or other barriers.
Virtual participation in election hearings can also be accommodated from non-court locations, such as from the board of elections, or through voters’ personal technology.

Monmouth Vicinage
Judges will be available from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Anyone seeking to petition the court on a voting or election issue on Nov. 3 may contact the Monmouth County Superior Court at 732-358-8700, ext. 87590, or MONEmergent.Mailbox@njcourts.gov.
Election officials, petitioners, and attorneys can appear before the designated judge by video, telephone or in person. Users who do not have access to a telephone to participate in the virtual proceeding can appear at the Monmouth County Board of Elections, 300 Halls Mills Road, Freehold, where arrangements will be made for a remote or in person hearing.

Morris/Sussex Vicinage
Superior Court judges will be available in Morris and Sussex counties to conduct remote hearings for election challenges or issues on Tuesday, following a "remote first" model consistent with all court operations at this time.
If appropriate, matters will be promptly heard by a designated judge with notice to election officials. Election officials, petitioners, and attorneys will be able to appear before the designated judge by video or telephone. County personnel will be prepared to direct a voter who appears at the courthouse to the appropriate location to participate in a remote proceeding.
All COVID-19 health protocols will be implemented in all court locations in use for election hearings and will be supported to the extent possible in non-court locations, such as boards of elections and other county facilities. Those protocols include screening operations, requiring the wearing of face masks, social distancing, and the use of Plexiglass or other barriers.

Ocean Vicinage
Voters with election-related issues should contact the Ocean County Board of Elections and/or Election Services at the Ocean County Clerk’s Office. If appropriate, these offices will make arrangements for the voter to report to a designated courtroom, where a hearing could be conducted either in-person or virtually.

Consistent with pre-COVID-19 policies and procedures, Election Day hearings are not broadcast live. Individual requests to observe those remote events should be directed to a vicinage’s trial court administrator.
