MENDHAM, NJ — Early results from Tuesday's primary election in Mendham Borough show two current Republican council members are lagging behind challengers in the vote tally.

Republican voters in the borough had a contested primary for council, as incumbents Steven J. Andrew and Brennan Reilly faced challengers Matthew Bruin and Alexandra Henry Traut for their seats.

The Democratic Party put forward two candidates, who will appear on the ballot with the Republican winners.

The primary election’s Democratic and Republican winners will be able to run in the general election on Nov. 5, while independent candidates had until June 4 to file.

Christine Serrano Glassner, the mayor of Mendham Borough, was also among the Republicans running to unseat Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) amid his federal bribery trial.

Here are the latest election tallies for Mendham Borough council, and the uncontested Morris County surrogate and commissioner's races. All results remain unofficial until certified.

Last updated at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday; officials did not say how many districts are left to be counted.


Mendham Borough council (vote for two)

Republican

  • Steven J. Andrew (inc.): 201 votes
  • Matthew Bruin: 390 votes
  • Brennan Reilly (inc.): 125 votes
  • Alexandra Henry Traut: 398 votes

Democrat

  • Mark Vandenhende: 321 votes
  • Robert Ritger: 317 votes

Morris County commissioners (vote for three)

Democrat

  • William "Bud" Ravitz: 19,667 votes
  • Jonathan Sackett: 19,965 votes
  • Justin Strickland: 20,659 votes

Republican

  • John Krickus (inc.): 25,248 votes
  • Deborah Smith (inc.): 25,248 votes
  • Stephen H. Shaw (inc.): 25,145 votes

Judge of the Morris County Surrogate Court (vote for one)

Democrat

  • John N. Holly: 21,804 votes

Republican

  • Heather J. Darling (inc.): 25,723 votes
