Republicans Maintain Lead In Mendham As More Votes Are Tallied
In Mendham Borough, residents voted for two open seats on the borough council.
MENDHAM, NJ — Unofficial Morris County results show that Mendham Borough Republicans have maintained their lead in the general election, despite the fact that the margin has narrowed as more votes are counted.
As of Friday at 1:29 p.m., Republicans Marilyn Althoff and William Russo have maintained a lead with 888 votes and 890 votes, respectively.
It's a close contest, with Democrats Melissa Rawley-Payne and Mark Van Den Hende trailing behind with 750 votes and 716 votes, respectively.

It's important to keep in mind that these are the unofficial results for the 2023 general election and may not include early voting, vote-by-mail, provisional ballots, or write-in votes.
Final certification of the results must be done by Nov. 22.

"While results are not final, it does not look like we were able to pull off a win. Thank you to everyone who supported our campaign. We plan to stay engaged and hope you all will join us in that effort," Rawley-Payne and Van Den Hende said on social media.
Althoff is an incumbent on the borough council and will retain her seat, while Russo will be taking over for John Andrews, who did not run for re-election.
