Tentative Teacher Contracts Spur Return of Back to School Night

Central, Mendham high schools will hold annual event one month after postponement.

The annual event of Back to School night, where parents can meet their children’s teachers, was postponed at West Morris Central and Mendham High Schools in October due to a years-long contract stalemate between the board of education and teacher’s association.

Thanks to a tentative agreement on the accord, decided upon in mid-October, Back to School nights at both high schools has been rescheduled and set for next week.

West Morris Central High School will hold its event at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, while Mendham’s will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.

After meeting with a super conciliator on Oct. 19, the sides reached a tentative agreement that needs to be ratified by both groups. The Teacher’s Association has not had a new contract since July 1, 2013, and went two full school years under the guidelines of the previous four-year pact.
