Valentine Love Decorates Mendham For Second Year

Mendham Borough's contest with residents' homes or doors dressed up for Valentine's Day, is back again.

MENDHAM, NJ — It’s the season of love and it’s noticeable that Cupid has already made a stop in Mendham Borough this year.

People may notice an uptick of heart lights and other festive decorations around homes in the borough.

Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner told Patch that a contest has returned for its second year, which was started in 2021, to brighten up the town and residents’ spirits.

Serrano Glassner explained in an email, the borough launched two decorating contests in 2021, for both Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day.

“It’s a great way for people to get outside and be creative with their family and it brings a smile to their neighbors who drive by,” she said.

“Some of our residents really let their creative juices flow and decorated their front entrances and walkways,” Serrano Glassner added. “People enjoyed the contest so much they are doing it again.”

The contest is open and free for all Mendham Borough residents to enter.

Through Valentine’s Day on Monday, judges will come around to get a look at the exterior of the decorated homes from the street. The homes are being judged on the uniqueness of their decor and any storyline with it.

Participating residents have consented that pictures of their homes can be taken. Winners' photos will be published on the borough’s website or the Mendham Messenger newsletter, after they are announced on Feb. 28.
