WizardCon Comes To North Jersey Town For Small Business Saturday

NEWTON, NJ — Add a little magic to your holiday shopping this weekend, as downtown Newton transforms for WizardCon.

Shops along Newtown's Spring Street will become "an enchanting oasis for magical folk and wizard-wannabe’s alike" during Small Business Saturday on Saturday, Nov. 24. The magical celebration will benefit the Big Brother big Sister of Northern New Jersey.

Attendees are invited to dress up and enjoy real-life Quidditch, musical performances, spells, potions and more, all based on the beloved "Harry Potter" universe.

The fun will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., following the annual holiday parade.

1:30 PM:

• Quidditch/Kidditch Sign-Ups with The Clifton Warriors – Memory Park
• The Knight Realm Experience – Memory Park
• Scavenger Hunt – Spring Street Alleyways
• Sorting Hat Photo Opportunity – In front of O’Reilly’s and at the opposite end of Spring Street
• Letter Writing to Santa – Spring Street

2:00 PM:

• East Side Love (A Red Hot Chili Peppers Tribute Band) performance – Memory Park Stage
• United Methodist Church Choir Performance – Spring Street

2:30 PM:

• Newton and Kittatinny Cheerleaders perform – Memory Park
• Quidditch/Kidditch Returns – Memory Park

3:00 PM:

• Cosplay Contest – Fire Museum

3:30 PM:

• Jeiris Cook Performance – Memory Park Stage

Spell Classes will be taking place every hour from 1:30 – 4:30.
