Middletown EMS volunteers called his injuries "significant, but not life threatening."
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A 13-year-old Middletown boy was hit by a car Thursday evening outside the Middletown Ice World, the ice skating rink on Harmony Road.
The young teen was hit in the parking lot shortly after 5 p.m.: He appeared to be unloading ice hockey gear and a driver pulled out of a parking space, accidentally hitting him, said Middletown Police.
As a result, the boy was pinned between the two vehicles for an extended period of time.

Middletown EMS units got there at 5:12 p.m. Thursday to find the young man pinned between two vehicles, said EMS units. Middletown EMS volunteers called his injuries "significant, but not life threatening."
The boy did sustain a significant injury and he was flown out from Dorsett Park by helicopter. He was admitted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

As of 11:30 Friday morning, police did not have any update on this condition.
The Middletown Fire Department secured a landing zone at Dorsett Park and the teen was transported to the landing zone with an escort from Middletown Police. Paramedics from Hackensack Meridian Health JFK EMS arrived at Dorsett Park and in conjunction with Middletown EMS continued to treat the patient for his injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and no summons or charges have been filed. There does not appear to be any criminality involved in the crash, Middletown Deputy Police Chief Paul Bailey said Friday morning. He called it a low-speed crash, and the driver was not texting, nor appeared to be under the influence of any alcohol or drugs.
