UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed in Collision on Route 36 in Middletown Is ID'd; Police Seek Public's Help
An unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed early this morning on Route 36 in Middletown; police are seeking information from witnesses

UPDATE: The victim from this morning’s fatal pedestrian accident has been identified as William Lesser, 27, from Atlantic Highlands. The incident is still under investigation and the traffic bureau is still seeking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, police said.
ORIGINAL STORY: A pedestrian was struck and killed by a motor vehicle early Tuesday morning in Middletown, according to Middletown Police Lt. Stephen Dollinger.
At approximately 3:20 a.m. this morning, the Middletown Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The crash occurred on Highway 36, westbound, in the area between Guttenplans Bakery and the former Shamrock Stage Coach Bus Company.

As of this time, police are unable to identify the victim pedestrian, Dollinger said. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who may be able to identify the victim, to contact Corporal Darrin Simon in the Traffic and Safety Bureau at (732) 615-2046.
The victim is a white male, in his late 20’s or early 30’s with facial hair.
