Yestercades: Lincroft Native's Nostalgia

When Lincroft native Ken Kalada talks about retro arcade gaming, he’s really talking about fond childhood memories of days spent with friends in front of glowing screens tucked into brightly-colored cabinets where an endless supply of quarters meant an endless supply of fun.

For years he’s assembled a collection of arcade games from his youth in hopes of opening his own arcade some day, the kind the 30-year-old Red Bank resident used to visit regularly with his own friends.

Finally, that day has come. Over the weekend, Red Bank’s newest retro arcade Yestercades, held its soft opening, welcoming gamers both young and old to enjoy the games and, more importantly, the atmosphere of another era.

In addition to retro arcade games, Yestercades also offers pool, many varieties of pinball, as well as play on home consoles both old and new on big screen televisions, from the Atari to the Xbox 360.

Yestercades is located at 80 Broad St., and is open seven days a week, Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to  2 a.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visit the Web site at http://yestercades.com.
