500 Girls Hit The Ice In Montclair To Celebrate Their Love For Hockey

To date, the Junior Rangers Girls Hockey Platform has introduced the sport to more than 2,100 girls across the Tri-State Area.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Hundreds of girls took to the ice at the Montclair State University Arena last weekend to celebrate their love for hockey.

On Sunday, the New York Rangers and presenting partner Dunkin’ Donuts hosted the Junior Rangers Girls Hockey Festival as a nod to the accomplishments of their female youth hockey players from this past season.

The Rangers launched the Junior Rangers Girls Hockey Platform in 2019. It includes clinics, camps and an official girls recreational hockey league.

To date, the program has helped to introduce the sport of hockey to more than 2,100 girls in the Tri-State area, organizers said.

Sunday’s event drew nearly 500 players across beginner, recreational and elite skill levels. The family-friendly event included a Girls Try Hockey for Free Clinic, a Girls Hockey League Jamboree which includes four games with teams from New Jersey, New York and Long Island, skills clinics, street hockey competitions and other activities.
