The Bar Method™ is a one-hour total body workout comprised of muscle strengthening and stretching techniques partially performed at the ballet barre, strategically choreographed and executed to music. The system is designed to create a uniquely lean, firm, sculpted body by combining the muscle-shaping principles of isometrics, the body-elongating practice of ballet dance conditioning, the science of physical therapy, and the intense pace of interval training.
2) What's great about being in Montclair?
We LOVE being in the town of Montclair!! Our clients are all so unique and inspiring. It is such an artsy and eclectic community and has amazing shops and restaurants. 3) Is there something no one knows about Bar Method... something unusual you offer?
Bar Method is for everyone and anyone—don't be fooled by the word "bar"—you do not have to be a ballerina to come to class! We cater to women and men of all shapes and sizes as well as all fitness levels. Some of our clients never worked out before and are now avid clients coming three to five times a week . On the other end of the spectrum, some of our clients come to us with very athletic backgrounds and are surprised to find that Bar Method is challenging in ways they have never experienced before. All of our clients have noticed changes in their body and mind that other forms of exercise never gave them! In addition, we offer various modifications for people who come to us with a host of injuries. In fact, Bar Method is a non-impact workout that can help heal and soothe joints and muscles. Bar Method also offers modifications for pre and post natal women, allowing them to take classes throughout their entire pregnancy. Many women have found that doing Bar Method while pregnant creates a better experience during those 9 long months, and not only does it help with a quicker recovery but they see their bodies bounce back faster. In fact, Shannon, one of the co-owners, is currently seven months pregnant and continues to teach and take classes.
4) How many folks take classes there?
Most of our clients take class three to five times a week, and we average about 800 client visits a week. We offer a variety of times throughout the day to fit everyone's schedule from the working professional to the stay -at-home parent.
5) Anything else we should know?
We don't think of Bar Method as a gym, but more as a community with a really positive atmosphere. We have a friendly, open and fun vibe at our studio. We think of our studio as a sanctuary, an escape from the real world, where the hour belongs to you. Come check it out and experience this beautiful hidden treasure in the heart of Montclair!
