Case Of The Missing Garden Sculptures

What happened to this resident's gnome and two cat sculptures?

Barbara Rudy, manager of the Montclair Community Band, is asking for help in finding three personally meaningful items that have been missing from her front garden at 73 Central Avenue since Sunday.

"In my front yard, I have a garden with a small fence. Inside the fencce I have a variety of cat sculptures given to me over the years as gifts," she said. "The garden is very popular with the toddler set and I like displaying the cats for all to enjoy."

But this past weekend, according to Rudy, three items were taken from the garden. The largest is a two-foot sculpture of a cat on a tree stump, looking down at a mouse.

"This is a pretty heavy item and it is not easy to lift," she said.

Also taken, Rudy said, was a small sculpture of a cat in a sitting position, about eight inches tall. The final item was a Major League Baseball garden gnome made to look like a Kansas City Royal.

"This gnome is quite small and is dressed in bright royal blue," she said.

Rudy said the items had been in her front garden for two years without incident.

"These three items are not worth much but they have great sentimental value to me," she said. "If they return to my garden on their own I will ask no questions whatsoever!"
