Montclair Pee Wee Cheer Team Earns Proclamation From Township

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Montclair Bulldogs Jr. Pee Wee Cheer Team has been bringing some pride back to their hometown with some recent competition wins.

The team received a proclamation from the town council at their recent meeting, earning a loud round of applause from everyone in attendance (watch the video below).

The proclamation reads:

WHEREAS, the Montclair Bulldogs Jr. Pee Wee Cheer Team made history by claiming its first National Crown among the top pop warner teams from around the country last month at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando Florida; and

WHEREAS, the team mastered the routine and won the judges’ vote, leaving no doubt for the local cheer team to be crowned champion of their respected division; and

WHEREAS, the Cheer & Dance Championships feature over 500 cheer & dance teams who compete at the four-day event; and

WHEREAS, the Jr. pee wees are also repeat champions of the Pop Warner Eastern Regional Tournament (2023- 2024), in which teams compete in a post season tournament each year against the top teams throughout the region, from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware to qualify for the national tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Montclair team is led by Head Coach Jasmine Atuncar and Assistant Coach Heather Kufta and features 15 participants, ranging from 8 to 10 years of age. The participants in the Pop Warner program are unique as opposed to those of other programs. While they are taught about the values of competition, they are also maintaining their grades at a satisfactory level to attain the ultimate prize of being named a Pop Warner National Champion!

NOW THEREFORE, we, the Mayor and Council of the Township of Montclair, New Jersey, do hereby recognize and celebrate the Montclair Recreation Bulldogs, Jr. Pee Wee Cheer Teammates: Jaelynn, Morgan, Peyton, Skylar, Aria, Zoe, Lyriq, Annabelle, Xareena, Madison, Nora, Bridgette, Skyler, Clementine, and Tori!
