Montclair's SOFIA to Host Domestic Violence Awareness Forum
The forum is set for Saturday, Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

To mark the beginning of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates is offering a free and informational session for the community on Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Titled "What's Love Got to Do With It," the event will feature guest speakers with expertise in victims services, community outreach, advocacy and crisis intervention.
This is a free and open domestic violence awareness event for the community, focusing on survivors of domestic violence and their family and friends. It will be held at The Community Service Center, 11 Pine St.

Anyone interested in learning about how to be supportive of the one in four women in our area affected by domestic violence is welcome to attend.
Featured speakers include Pamela McCauley, victim witness coordinator; Deverett Ross, executive director of Community Against Violence and survivor; Blair Goode, DVRT liaison advocate; Minister Wanda Edwards, survivor; Gerri Powell, DVRT coordinator with the Montclair PD, and Marlo Taybron, DVRT coordinator with the SOMA PD.
