NJ Transit Warns Of Delays On Wednesday

A major event is taking place at MetLife Stadium.

 

New Jersey Transit issued an alert Tuesday warning commuters of delays on Wednesday afternoon/evening due to a major event at MetLife Stadium.

That event, a celebration by nearly 100,000 Jewish men and women of their study of the Talmud, is expected to begin at the stadium at about 4 p.m.

NJ Transit said that large crowds are expected at Secaucus Junction, New York Penn Station, Hoboken Terminal, and Newark Penn Station due to the event and that customers should allow for extra travel time throughout the evening Wednesday.

According to NJ.com, organizers of the Siyum HaShas expect it to to be the largest celebration of Jewish learning in centuries.

The participants in the gathering are marking their completion of the Talmud, a record of Jewish law and other writings. Many of the 100,000 have read one page of the Talmud each day, finishing 2,711 pages in seven and a half years.
