Renovation Project At Glenfield Park Crosses Finish Line In Montclair

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A renovation project at the basketball and tennis courts in Glenfield Park has crossed the finish line, county officials announced Friday.

Officials released the following details about the upgrades in the county-run park, which is located in Montclair:

“The Bobby Hurt Basketball Complex in Glenfield Park was updated with a new playing surface and backboards. In addition, the area around the basketball courts was redesigned with a rubberized surface to address flooding and erosion issues which had in the past resulted in the courts being covered in mud after rainstorms. Also part of this project was the modernization of the tennis courts, which were completed earlier and reopened in June.”

According to county officials, Remington and Vernick from Secaucus was awarded a professional services contract for $87,400 to design improvements to the tennis courts, basketball courts and the area around the courts. Shore Top Construction Corp. from Freehold was awarded a publicly bid contract for $1,012,945 to perform the construction work.

The project was funded with grants from the American Rescue Program and the NJ Green Acres program, officials said.

Friday’s announcement got a round of applause from Montclair Mayor Renee Baskerville, Deputy Mayor Susan Shin Andersen and 4th Ward Councilwoman Aminah Toler.
