Thief Steals $1,750 From Safe At Montclair Business: Police

The suspect entered the store at 2:30 a.m. and stole cash from a safe, Montclair police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Someone stole $1,750 in cash from a safe at a business in Montclair on Monday, authorities said.

The Montclair Police Department released the following details about the theft, which took place on Church Street:

“Officers responded to Chip City on an activated alarm. They observed the front door was open and the safe appeared to have been entered. Surveillance footage shows the suspect entered the store at approximately 2:30 a.m. Once inside, the suspect reportedly removed $1,750 from the safe before fleeing.”

Police said the suspect appears to be a woman who was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt over a maroon t-shirt, a light blue face covering, black pants, and black sneakers with three white stripes.
