Bakery Battle: Iron Cupcake Challenge Set for Delicious Duel
Spend Sunday eating cupcakes and combating childhood pediatric cancer at the Iron Cupcake Challenge.
If you can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen—literally. Instead, go eat cupcakes, take part in a baked goods throw down and support a worthy cause Sunday.
will hold its first challenge of 2011 tomorrow at Pinsetter Bar & Bowl in Pennsauken. Moorestown’s Kati Angelini, who runs Kati’s Kupcakes, organized the event.
The event is part bakery competition, part charity and, of course, part eating delicious cupcakes.

The competition involves local bakers creating frosted concoctions to fit into the theme, summertime, and the featured flavor, lemon. Bakers can let their imagination and fondant skills run wild to create cupcakes inspired by the theme and flavor.
Iron Cupcake Challenge’s charity aspect comes through its support for nonprofit organizations. Up this time is Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which raises money for pediatric cancer research. Naturally, the charity choice also inspired the competition’s featured flavor.

A silent auction during the challenge also will benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
And what would be a cupcake challenge without getting to taste the entries? Everyone who comes gets a cupcake tasting, as well as the chance to marvel over bakers’ creations.
