Thinking of taking the Ben Franklin into Philadelphia early Sunday? Think again. The Ben Franklin Bridge will be closed July 10 from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. for the American Cancer Society's Bike-a-Thon, which raises money for cancer research. The annual 62-mile race starts at the Ben Franklin and ends at the Buena Vista Camping Park in Cumberland County. There are also shorter rides starting at Cherry Hill High School East and Hammonton Lake Park in Hammonton. Alternate routes into Philadelphia or Pennsylvania Sunday morning include the Walt Whitman, Betsy Ross, Commodore Barry and Tacony-Palmyra bridges. While you're making note of bridge closures, better jot down Wednesday, July 13. From midnight to 4 a.m. that morning, the Walt Whitman Bridge will be closed as part of the ongoing redecking project.
