Deadly Car Crash Sets House On Fire In Burlington Co.: Police

At the scene of the destroyed home, authorities found a dead person inside the vehicle that crashed.

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — A deadly car crash caused a fire that destroyed a house Tuesday in Mount Laurel, authorities said.

First responders reported to Diston Court just before 5 p.m. for the fire. When they arrived, a two-story house showed heavy flames — primarily in the garage area.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the home was destroyed, according to 6abc Action News.

At the scene, authorities found a vehicle at the scene with a dead person inside. Police determined that the crash caused the fire.

"The incident is being treated as a fatal accident investigation that led to the house fire," said the Mount Laurel Police Department.

The deceased person's identity has not been released as of Wednesday morning.

A woman and three kids safely evacuated the house during the fire, homeowner Iliya Rezvine told Action News.

"It looks like it (the vehicle) just backed in at a high rate of speed and just blew up, there was a big explosion," Rezvine told the news outlet.

The cause of the accident is unknown. Mount Laurel's Bureau of Fire Prevention and Police Detective Bureau are investigating, with help from county and state agencies.
