Fire Company Celebrates 100 Years Of Serving Lenola, Moorestown

The fire department will celebrate the milestone by holding an event that everyone is invited to attend.

LENOLA, NJ — The Lenola Volunteer Fire Company Station 313 will celebrate a century of serving Lenola, Moorestown and the surrounding community starting at noon on Saturday at its building on Lenola Road.

The family-friendly event will include live music, ax throwing, food and beverages, a muster — think of a car show, but with fire trucks regarding that last entertainment option — and so much more, according to Jim Gifford, president of the Lenola Volunteer Fire Company Station 313.

"None of us are going to be here for the 200th anniversary," he told Patch. "The way we see it, this is a once-in-a-lifetime event for us to be a part of ... and when that time comes, they can see what we did for the 100th anniversary."

A volunteer fire company lasting 100 years is significant, and there may be several reasons why the Lenola Volunteer Fire Company Station 313 reached that milestone, according to Gifford.

"It's pretty hard to find people that want to commit their free time to an organization like this," he said. "The group of people we have is extremely dedicated, and they love what they do."

He added, "it's [also] a sense of pride. For many of our members, their fathers and grandfathers were part of the fire company."

Another key to the Lenola Volunteer Fire Company Station 313's success may be its recent decision to form an auxiliary to help with fundraising and represent the company at community events, he said.

Those interested in learning more about becoming a firefighter or an auxiliary member of the Lenola Volunteer Fire Company Station 313 can stop by the company's booth on Saturday, Gifford added.
