Free Concert, Philly Cheesesteaks Highlight Thursday Fun

Let's hope the weather holds: A free concert at Perkins Center for the Arts is (re)scheduled for Thursday night.

Bad news first: A free concert by the Barbone Street Jazz Band at Perkins Center for the Arts was canceled Wednesday due to "blah" weather.

Good news: The concert was rescheduled for Thursday night—if Mother Nature cooperates. (Currently, the chance for precipitation is 50 percent.) Assuming it stays dry, the concert will begin on the Perkins lawn at 7 p.m., with a preview performance from the Perkins Center for the Arts Flute Ensemble, followed by the main show at 7:30 p.m.

Bring a blanket or lawn chair, unless you prefer a soggy rear end.

Bonus fact: After the show, if you find yourself craving a cheesesteak, stop by Laurel Lanes in Maple Shade (2825 Route 73) to bask in the glow of Tony Luke's, which is celebrating the grand opening of its newest location at the Burlington County bowling alley.

If you can get there early, they'll be cutting a ceremonial six-foot cheesesteak at 4 p.m. Pieces of the man-size sandwich will be handed out as free samples.
