Girls' Lacrosse Returns to State Final

Still-undefeated Moorestown (No. 1) will battle the No. 2 team in the state Saturday in the Tournament of Champions final.

The Moorestown girls' lacrosse team (25-0) continued its undefeated streak Tuesday, taking down No. 4 seed Glen Ridge in the semifinals of the Tournament of Champions (TOC) at Monmouth.

The No. 1-ranked girls defeated Glen Ridge 14-7, though coach Deanna Knobloch said it was "certainly not one of our greatest performances, but it was certainly a well-earned win against a very talented Glen Ridge team."

Just as they have all season, Knobloch said the girls played as a team, earning their reputation as the top defensive unit in the state and nation.

The Quakers move on to face the No. 2 team in the state, Chatham, at 5 p.m. Saturday at Kean University.

Moorestown battled Ridgewood—which lost to Chatham Tuesday—in last year's TOC final, .

Knobloch said Saturday's game will be tough, but has confidence in her squad.

"I am so happy that these seniors and this group of girls are getting the chance to play for the TOC trophy," she said. "They have all worked so hard and deserve to be champions."
