Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested at Moorestown Mall: Police

Moorestown Police say Michael Panetta, of Monroe, was involved in several hit-and-runs in Cherry Hill Sunday.

Police said they arrested a particularly prolific hit-and-run driver at the Moorestown Mall late Sunday afternoon.

Cherry Hill Police requested assistance Sunday locating a driver who allegedly caromed off several vehicles in their jurisdiction, all in the same time period, according to Moorestown Police.

Moorestown officers located the suspect vehicle pulling into the mall parking lot, driving on a blown-out wheel. They detained the driver—Michael Panetta, 39, of the unit block of Winthrop Road, Monroe—for Cherry Hill Police, according to a report.

While Panetta was being held, officers observed a pipe used for smoking a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) inside his vehicle, police said.

Cherry Hill ultimately declined custody of Panetta. He was charged (by Moorestown Police) with possession of CDS paraphernalia, reckless driving, unsafe motor vehicle and view obstruction. Panetta was released on a summons pending a court hearing.
