Jill Macaluso's Energy Is Infectious, Moorestown Resident Says

Moorestown resident Kathy Potash writes that Jill Fallows Macaluso's energy is infectious.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown resident Kathy Potash writes that Jill Fallows Macaluso's energy is infectious, and it inspired her to help start a Girl Scout troop. It's one of the reasons Potash is supporting Macaluso for Moorestown Board of Education. Her letter to the editor can be found below.

To the Editor:

I met Jill Fallows Macaluso when our daughters started Kindergarten — her energy was infectious. Ninety seconds into the conversation, Jill said to me “let’s start a Girl Scout troop together!”

From the very beginning, Jill talked about why she loved Girl Scouts — because of its mission of building girls' “courage, character and confidence to make the world a better place.” We learned the ropes together and co-led this group of kindergartners up through middle school. At the same time, Jill juggled working as a busy mom and, over the past 10 years, there were many years where she was also leading other troops for her two other daughters.

One of my favorite badge earning activities was when Jill helped the girls earn their “business owner” badge using a slime shop as the mock business and taught the girls about the responsibilities of the various business roles, leadership skills and budget management. She was able to take very complex business “stuff” and make it understandable — she is an excellent communicator.

While Jill has a crazy amount of energy and capacity, she was able to do all of this through activating others — she sets clear plans, is organized, good at delegating and simply an amazing team player.

The trunk of Jill’s car is literally filled with crafts, posters, books and badges. And Jill’s heart is filled with passion, energy, creativity and compassion for our kids — she’s showed it through her ten years of dedication to Girl Scouts and I can’t wait to see her show it on the Moorestown Board of Education. I encourage others to learn more about her candidacy on the JillforBOE Facebook page or by emailing jillforboe@gmail.com.
