MOORESTOWN, NJ — There will be public hearings concerning a tax exemption for the Moorestown Mall and $540,000 in water tank improvements at Monday night’s township council meeting.

Whether attending in-person at town hall, 111 West Second Street, or participating via MSTeams, residents will have the chance to speak during the public hearings.

The first concerns a proposed ordinance on introduction to grant the long-term tax exemption to Moorestown Mall, LLC, when it met Monday night. The proposal notes that Moorestown Mall, LLC, will change its name to MT Residential Urban Renewal, LLC.

The project calls for the construction of 375 units, with a 20 percent set aside for 75 affordable units. The plan also calls for the addition of a hotel at the mall. Read more here: Apartment Complex, Hotel Approved For Moorestown Mall

Last month, Township Council introduced the proposal for a long-term tax exemption for the project. It was unanimously approved on introduction. Read more here: Council Considers Tax Exemption For Mall Housing Project

There are two proposed bond ordinances up for a final vote, both involving improvements to water towers. Read more here: Moorestown Proposes $540K In Water Tank Improvements

The first sets aside $170,000, including the borrowing of $161,500 in bonds or notes for preliminary engineer and design expenses for painting and improvements to the Westfield Road Water Tank.

The second sets aside $375,000, including the borrowing of $356,250 in bonds or notes for improvements to the North Church Street Water Tank.

A third proposed bond ordinance concerning water tanks will be introduced Monday night. This one proposes setting aside $360,000, and appropriating $342,000 in bonds or notes for improvements to the North Church Street Water Tank.

There will be a non-consent agenda resolution concerning the sale of a plenary retail consumption license. Last month, Township Council authorized the first sale of a plenary liquor license in Moorestown history, to Opco, LLC, of Pennsauken for $1,000,008. There are also 10 items on the consent agenda.

Anyone who attends the meeting in person must wear a mask and follow social distancing protocols. Residents can attend the meeting virtually using the MSTeams client by using any one of the following methods:

2. Go to the township's homepage and click the link for "Upcoming Events," select the meeting you wish to attend; then click on "MS Teams Meeting" link on the right side of the screen; or
3. Go to the township's homepage, and at the top right of the screen, click on "Live Meetings" and then click on the link "Township Council MS Teams Meeting Link" above the search box.

Those without internet access can attend by telephone by dialing 1-201-523-5900 or 1-833-450-2679 (toll free) and then enter Conference ID: 956 314 845 followed by the # sign.

Members of the public participating via MSTeams may participate just the same as if present in person; the mayor will open the floor for public participation in accordance with normal protocol.

The meeting will also be broadcast via live stream on the township's website. The livestream is not interactive, and residents will not be able to participate in the meeting in this format.

This will bring you to the “Agendas, Minutes, Meetings & Recordings” page. Once there, click on the “Township Council Meeting” link of the meeting you wish to watch.
