Moorestown Swimmers Shine at State Championship
The boys' and girls' teams sent 11 swimmers to compete in the meet last weekend.

Moorestown sent 11 swimmers to compete in the state championship meet in Sewell this past weekend, joining nearly 200 public and private high schools from across the state.
Boys’ and girls’ swimmers from had to meet tough qualifying times to earn the privilege to compete.
Members of the boys’ swim team, who were the Burlington County Swim League champs, as well as the South Jersey Public B semi-finalist championship team, were:
- Freshman Zach Fong, who placed 12th in the 100 Butterfly and 31st in the 200 Free
- Senior Brian Wardzinski, who placed 34th in the 500 free and 37th in the 200 Free
- Junior Will VanFossen, who placed 17th in the 100 Back and 31st in the 200 Individual Medley
- Freshman Devin Nielsen, who placed 35th in the 200 Individual Medley
- Senior Thomas Shetler, who placed 7th in the 50 Free and 15th in the 100 Free
- Freshman Tim Runfola, who placed 22nd in the 100 Fly
- Sophomore Ryan Caffrey, who placed 24th in the 100 Free
The Boys 200 Medley Relay of VanFossen, Nielsen, Shetler and Caffrey placed 4th. The Boys 200 Free Relay of Nielsen, Caffrey, Fong and VanFossen placed 23rd. And the Boys 400 Free Relay of Caffrey, Shetler, Wardzinski and VanFossen placed 5th.
Members of the girls' team who swam this weekend were:
- Freshman Carter Orth, who placed 10th in the 200 Individual Medley and 15th in the 100 Fly
- Junior Emily Lubin, who placed 25th in the 200 Free and 25th in the 100 Free
The Girls 200 Free Relay of junior Nicole Scola, freshman Lauren Kohart, Lubin and Orth placed 22nd and the Girls 400 Free Relay of Scola, Kohart, Lubin and Orth placed 26th.
