Moorestown Theater Company Back Inside With 'Footloose'

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Moorestown Theater Company (MTC) heads inside to a new location for its next Rising Stage production, beginning Tuesday night.

MTC’s production of “Footloose” opens at the First Presbyterian Church, 101 Bridgeboro Road in Moorestown, at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

MTC Artistic Director Mark Morgan said the arrangement came about thanks to a parent who is active in the MTC and the church. He said the church and its Rev. Stuart Spencer have been wonderful to the theater company.

“It’s nice to have a fellow non-profit helping us out in our hour of need,” Morgan said.

MTC has held a majority of its performances outside since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020. Since then, MTC has had to worry about the weather and other outdoor factors that wouldn’t play into a typical indoor performance.

“It’s nice not having to look at weather apps,” Morgan said.

This will be MTC’s fourth performance of “Footloose,” making it the company’s second most performed show behind “Annie” in its 19-year history, said Morgan, who is directing the show.

The show features 24 rising performers, from high school juniors to 29-year-olds. The young adult cast will perform this classic 80 movie musical that was nominated for four Tony Awards in 2000.

It features such well-known songs as “Holding Out For A Hero,” “Heaven Help Me,” “Let’s Hear It For The Boy,” “Mama Says,” “Almost Paradise” and the title song.

Show dates and times are as follows:

• Tuesday: 7 p.m.
• Wednesday: 7 p.m.
• Thursday: 7 p.m.
• Friday: 7 p.m.
• Saturday, 2 p.m.; 7 p.m.
