Police: Man Punched, Spit On Mall Security Guard

Also, Moorestown Police arrested seven teens for allegedly trespassing at a vacant home on Cove Road.

A Philadelphia man was arrested after police said he attacked and spit on a Moorestown Mall security guard during an attempted shoplifting.

According to , Darrius Abdullah, 45, of Old York Road, tried to steal eight watches, worth a total of $239.84, from on July 16. When a security officer tried to detain him, Abdullah punched the guard in the face, spit on him, and broke a display table, police said.

Abdullah was charged with simple assault, shoplifting and criminal mischief and committed to Burlington County Jail on $10,000 bail.

Police said the security officer sustained only a minor injury from the punch and refused medical treatment.

  • Amira Martinez, 22, of Tiffany Lane, Willingboro, arrested for shoplifting after police said she concealed $668 worth of bathing suits at Boscov’s at the Moorestown Mall. She was released on a summons.

  • James Gray, 27, of Longwood Drive, Sicklerville, arrested after police said he tried to conceal 19 pieces of jewelry, worth $1,505, at Macy’s at the Moorestown Mall. Gray was charged with shoplifting and released on a summons.

  • Jessica Bailer, 19, East Washington Street, Riverside, and Ashley Silva, 18, Washington Street, Riverside, charged with criminal trespass and underage access to alcohol after , while in possession of alcohol. Five juveniles—four 15-year-olds and a 17-year-old, all from Riverside—are also accused of trespassing, according to police. Charges are pending against the juveniles.
