What You Missed from This Week's Council Meeting ...
New information on the township's plans for reassessment (which begins this month) and a new, easy way to access information about the municipal complex project.

For those who couldn’t make it to Monday night’s township council meeting, there were a few interesting items that didn’t make it into a full story, but were nonetheless noteworthy. Here are a few leftover tidbits from the meeting:
- Township manager Scott Carew said he, tax assessor Dennis DeKlerk and (ASI) are in the midst of planning the public information campaign for reassessment. Carew said they’ll be holding two town hall meetings—“one for each side of town”—in the near future. He also said there will be photos and information about each of the ASI assessors—which neighborhoods they’ll be walking around in and when—posted on the township website and ASI’s website once reassessment gets underway. The work is set to begin by the end of August and wrap up sometime in October. - Carew informed council he would be posting the —including pricing, images, square footage, etc.—on the municipal complex project on the township manager’s page. Council will hold a special workshop to discuss the project at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, prior to their regular 7:30 p.m. meeting.
- Financial officer Tom Merchel informed council the township had refinanced $5.7 million worth of bonds, realizing savings of $343,000.
