Brussels Backlash: Morris Twp. Cops Keep Tabs On Local Train Station
'New normal' leads to extra patrols for safety, resident assurance, police say.
MORRIS TWP., N.J. – Commuters using the Convent Station train station Wednesday morning were greeted by police and K-9 units in the aftermath of a terrorist attack that rocked Europe.
Morris Township police officers were on hand early to patrol the station and keep an eye out for suspicious activity after shootings and bombings in Brussels at train stations and an airport killed dozens and injured scores more.
In a statement on the police department’s Facebook page, the squad said:

“We were up early this morning making sure your trip into Manhattan was safe. At this time there is no indication of an attack in the NY metropolitan area or railways. As the new normal continues to change with each tragic event, we will continue to assess and deploy patrols to critical sights out of an abundance of caution and to provide public assurance.”
