Police Collect Nearly 200 Pounds of Unwanted Meds At Morris Township, Morris Plains Drop-Offs
The Prosecutor's Office partnered with the Morris Plains, Morris Township, and Randolph police departments for 'Operation Take-back.'

MORRISTOWN, N.J.– Nearly 300 pounds of unused/unwanted prescription medicine was collected at three satellite locations in Morris County as part of "Operation Take-back," authorities said.
The Morris Plains, Morris Township and Randolph police departments worked jointly, setting up disposal locations in their respective municipalities.
Together they collected 287 pounds of unused medicine – 115 in Morris Plains; 61 in Morris Township; and 111 in Randolph, according to Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp.
“Once again our efforts to educate the public on the need to properly dispose of their unused, unwanted or expired medications have met with success," said Knapp. "It is my hope that this trend continues, not just during Operation Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, but during the course of the year by utilizing one of the
many permanent drop boxes located throughout Morris County.”
"This is an important initiative, especially as the freeholders, prosecutor, and many local police and nonprofit organizations have been targeting opiate abuse and addictions,’’ said Freeholder Doug Cabana, the county
governing board’s liaison to law and public safety.
